The Original Gewehr 98
Here’s some info of Gew98 from wiki if you are not familiar with the WW1 gun. The Gewehr 98 is a German bolt-action rifle made by Mauser, firing cartridges from a five-round internal clip-loaded magazine. It was the German service rifle from 1898 to 1935, when it was replaced by the Karabiner 98k, a shorter weapon using the same basic design. The Gewehr 98 action, using a stripper clip loaded with the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge, successfully combined and improved several bolt-action engineering concepts which were soon adopted by many other countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, and Japan. The Gewehr 98 replaced the earlier Gewehr 1888 as the main German service rifle. It first saw combat in the Chinese Boxer Rebellion and was the main German infantry service rifle of World War I. The Gewehr 98 saw further military use by the Ottoman Empire and Nationalist Spain.

The Impression
First The package is solid hard cardboard package with foam they hold gun tight inside the box. On the outside there’s a beautiful label on it which has bring out more value of this WW1 beauty. Just appreciate they try their best on protecting this product for international delivery.
You will quickly notice that the gun is quite heavy not only beacuse it's super long, but also thanks to its Full metal parts and nice quality wooden stock, you can always tell different from high quality products and other “toys”. After I test it with magnet, there are several parts are made from Steel. Include charging handle, rear sight, outer barrel, chamber, front sight, and other hardware on wood stock.
For other details, I will let the photos do the talk from here :D

This super long barrel is in steel, no wonder it’s so heavy. And The bayonet plug can fit on the original Gew98 bayonet.

The classic roller-coaster shape rear sight also made in steel.

The steel chamber with beautiful 1906 full engraving.

Beautiful light finished wooden stock with the special Gew98 Sling plug and the circle metal parts just same as Original one.

Straight charging handle also very identical to this WW1 Rifle.
Whole receiver parts just beautiful done.
The Performance
Trench Airsoft Gew98 is installed with reliable system which is same to Tanaka K98, it is also same system to Snow Wolf K98. As my experience although this system can’t reach high FPS due to limited valve, but it’s very easy to pull and have extra function that the rifle holds the bolt when the magazine is empty. And hop-up adjusting lever is hiding well under rear sight.
Trench Airsoft have improved the hop up chamber to CNC level for lower tolerance, and the inner barrel is installed with 510mm which can upgrade to even longer. The one we test have power around 420FPS with 0.2g bbs which is ideal for our field. And they also provide 320FPS version, or you can ask them for customize FPS ot fit requirement of your field.
With all the effort Trench Airsoft done, the performance is much better than K98 of Tanaka or Snow Wolf. If you plan to join airsoft event with this WW1 rifle, there will be no problem at all. It will do its duty well even at the open field.

It’s definitely a nice Gew98 from Trench Airsoft
Overall
To me, the Trench Airsoft Gew98 springer airsoft rifle is a good airsoft gun for collection, and it can even do its job well on airsoft field. If you are interested in WW1 airsoft gun, don’t miss the chance to own it. Even the price is over $800USD, with the quality trench airsoft delivered I think it’s very suit to the price. Besides, it’s currently hard to find another Gew98 on market. Happy to see there’s some manufacturer finally willing to build products like this one.
